Who we are and what is important to us

'Baci Baci' – that means 'kisses, kisses' in Italian! It's a warm, cheerful greeting that we love to share with friends and loved ones. Our mouths laugh, tell stories, enjoy the sweet side of life, and reveal so many of our emotions. We want to share precisely this warmth and dolce vita with you at the Baci Baci Café: It's a place for contagious fun, genuine moments of community, and a warm, open welcome for everyone. A place where you simply feel at home.

Lucia is a designer at heart; she combines Italian warmth with Swiss precision in everything she does. By day, she leads teams at global tech innovators like Google and YouTube, dedicated to crafting digital experiences that inspire and connect people. But Lucia has always dreamed of turning that passion for creating joyful connections into something even more tangible, a multi-sensory experience that comes from the heart—right here in Zurich. Baci Baci is that dream come true: her way of harnessing that same creative spark to create a welcoming space where the simple pleasures of artisanal gelato and world-class coffee build community.

Pedro Martins

Historian by passion, host by heart

Pedro is a true multi-talent: born in Lisbon, raised in New York City, and after a stop in Madrid, he landed in Zurich 16 years ago. With over 20 years of experience in the culinary world, he knows exactly how to run a café with soul.

A creative and social spirit, Pedro truly lives for warm hospitality. When he isn’t busy sharing his enthusiasm for food and wine with guests, you’ll likely find him at a Roman ruin or an old fortress—as historical cultures are his greatest passion.

Matina combines artistic creativity with a deep love for people and many years of experience in the art of coffee preparation. She particularly enjoys expressing her passion for aesthetics and barista skills in her loving latte art, transforming every coffee cup into a small work of art. With every encounter at Baci Baci, she aims to create a sense of home – a place where guests feel seen, valued, and as warmly welcomed as if they were visiting good friends.

Matina beautifully balances genuine hospitality with professional service, transforming everyday moments into meaningful encounters. For her, the most beautiful thing is when a vibrant community naturally grows around the warmth of a perfect cup of coffee.

This project would not have been possible without the partnership and consulting of Wolf Wagschal.
